Tempest Weather Device 3D Model and Promo
3D Design
Motion Design

When the weather-tech brand approached me to create a promotional campaign for their new IoT-device, the brief went beyond a typical product render. They needed a digital asset: a fully realised 3D model of the device, motion sequences for broadcast and social, and a visual identity that could anchor the campaign across platforms.
Challenge
The device needed to look and feel premium, high-tech and trustworthy — befitting a product that serves as a personal weather station. At the same time, the motion piece had to be short, attention-grabbing, and suitable for television promo (for KKTV 11 News) as well as social media. That means the 3D asset had to render cleanly, animate smoothly, and scale across multiple formats, while maintaining visual clarity and brand consistency.
My Approach
3D model production: Using Cinema 4D I built the device from scratch: detailed geometry, high-quality materials (glass, metal, matte surfaces), correct proportions and UV mapping to control reflections and texture behaviour.
Lighting & rendering: I created a lighting setup tailored for product presentation — rim lights, soft-box reflections, controlled shadows — so the device looked both realistic and appealing. Render outputs were configured for high-res stills and motion sequences, ensuring flexibility.
Motion design & compositing: Using Adobe After Effects I animated the model: device reveal, smooth camera sweeps, subtle particle effects (dust, atmosphere), brand text overlays, transitions and final composite for the broadcast promo.
Multi-format deliverables: The project delivered:
A full 30-second promo suitable for broadcast and web.
Short versions for social media (15s, 10s) with variations of the animation.
Render stills and-image assets for marketing collateral.
The 3D asset file (C4D + texture/lighting setup) handed off for potential future re-use or real-time adaptation.
Scalability & reuse: I structured the modelling and rendering so the asset could easily be adapted for future product variants, teaser animations or interactive use — reducing future production time and increasing value for the client.
Outcome & Value
A polished 3D-modelled device that became the visual anchor for the campaign — elevating the brand’s perceived quality and technical sophistication.
High-impact motion design delivered under broadcast-standards, optimised for multiple formats (TV, web, social) — which helped the campaign reach multiple audiences.
Efficient workflow and asset reuse built in meant the client is set up for future extensions (new features, updated models) with much less overhead.
The work strengthened the brand’s visual identity around high-tech lifestyle and “weather-aware” culture, positioning them as leaders in their category.
Why This Matters
If you’re looking for a motion designer / 3D artist who can deliver both the digital asset and the motion story, here’s why I’m a strong match:
I deliver full-pipeline: modelling → lighting/render → animation → compositing — practical and end-to-end.
I design for scalability, meaning you gain an asset built once that can serve many uses (promo, social, interactive).
I understand the demands of broadcast and web formats: aspect ratios, timing, visual punch, branding continuity.
Whether it’s a product launch animation, a tech device reveal, or a campaign asset suite, I bring the experience and technical fluency needed to execute.
If your next project involves high-quality 3D modelling and motion design — product visuals, tech promos, brand animations — I’d love to discuss how we can bring it to life.
