Yardcrafters
A Custom Designed Landscaping Website with Squarespace
Web Design
Yardcrafters approached me looking to elevate their online presence. Their previous site was dated, lacked visual impact, and didn’t clearly communicate the full range of services they offered. Potential customers visiting the site were quickly clicking away because:
The branding felt generic and didn’t reflect the high-end workmanship of their landscaping and hardscape services.
Navigation was confusing and made it hard to find key service offerings (e.g., patios, outdoor kitchens, retaining walls).
Mobile responsiveness and page-speed were sub-optimal, reducing user engagement and search performance.
There was no effective visual gallery showcasing their best projects, which meant missed opportunities to build trust with prospective clients.
My Solution & Design Approach
To tackle these issues, I delivered a fully custom design built in Squarespace with a focus on aesthetics, clarity, and conversion. Key elements included:
Brand-aligned visual identity: Clean typography, strong imagery of completed projects, a refined colour palette. This positions Yardcrafters as a premium service provider rather than a generic landscaping business.
User-centric navigation: I reorganised the site structure so visitors immediately see “Services”, “Gallery/Projects”, “About Us”, and a prominent “Get a Quote” call to action.
Project gallery with impact: I curated high-quality photos of their standout jobs (outdoor kitchens, stone patios, fire pits). Each image links to detailed project pages, reinforcing credibility.
Mobile-first and speed-optimized: Ensured the site loads quickly, images are optimised and the mobile experience is flawless—critical for on-the-go users searching for local services.
Conversion-focused CTAs: Every key page features a clear invitation: “Schedule your free consultation” or “View our portfolio of outdoor living spaces.” These guide visitors toward contact rather than just browsing.
Platform leverage: Using Squarespace allowed the client to manage content easily post-launch, while still giving full design freedom. I customised templates and integrated any necessary plugins/extensions to deliver a polished result.
Outcomes & Results
The new site immediately projected a higher-value brand image, aligning with Yardcrafters’ premium positioning in the landscaping market.
Improved navigation and clearer service messaging led to longer visitor engagement and more completed “Contact Us” forms (client-reported).
The rich visual portfolio raised trust and credibility among visitors—especially important for high-investment services like outdoor kitchens and stonework.
Mobile usability and performance optimisations helped ensure the site ranks well and doesn’t lose visitors due to slow load times or poor mobile UI.
