This piece was crafted to celebrate the station’s anchors who earned the Edward R. Murrow Award for their newscast covering Hurricane Milton. My role: gather all relevant assets (footage, stills, graphics), perform editing, add motion-graphics elements and polish, and deliver a broadcast-ready video.

Objectives

  • Integrate live-footage/station assets with animated graphic motion design to amplify prestige and storytelling.

  • Ensure the final deliverable meets broadcast specifications (format, colour, timing) and is easily adaptable for digital/social use.

  • Convey a tone of excellence, professionalism and celebration—aligned with the stature of the Murrow Award.

Approach & Process

  1. Asset compilation & pre-production

    • Collected key footage of the anchors, newscast highlights, station branding, award visuals.

    • Developed a motion-design concept that supports the theme of recognition and excellence (e.g., trophies, shimmering light, dynamic transitions).

  2. Video editing (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro / similar)

    • Constructed a tight timeline emphasising the award moment, anchors’ recognition, key broadcast visuals.

    • Managed colour grading and broadcast-safe levels to ensure the piece would pass station QC.

  3. Motion design & compositing (e.g., Adobe After Effects)

    • Created animated motion-graphics elements: title treatment (“Edward R. Murrow Awards”), lower-thirds, dynamic transitions, subtle 3D/light effects to enhance prestige.

    • Composited station footage with animation seamlessly: combining text, brand assets, motion layers to elevate the presentation.

  4. Delivery & multi-platform adaptation

    • Delivered master for broadcast (HD/TV spec) plus versions suitable for station’s social media or web use.

    • Supplied final files with correct naming conventions, codec/media formats, ready for immediate use.

Key Achievements & Value

  • Delivered a broadcast-grade promotional video representing a prestigious award—demonstrating your ability to operate in high-stakes, brand-sensitive environments.

  • Showcased the blend of technical editing skill + creative motion design, making you attractive to clients who need both motion-graphics and video editing rather than just one or the other.

  • Reinforced your reputation for producing polished, professional visual assets for broadcast clients (which often have stricter requirements than purely digital ones).

  • Positioned you well for future work in corporate recognition videos, awards-event promos, broadcast station branding, and high-level motion-graphic projects.
