Print Design
During my time as a camp-counselor with Avid4Adventure, I was tasked to re-imagine their Camper Passport — a keepsake booklet issued to each camper that tracks their new skills, adventures, and progress throughout camp. The prior version was a simple checklist; my role was to transform it into a vibrant, illustrated, branded experience that would appeal to youth, parents and staff alike.
Challenge
The existing booklet lacked personality and engagement: it was purely functional and didn’t reflect the dynamic spirit of camp life. Camp leaders needed something more than a checkbox list — they wanted a tool that could motivate kids, celebrate their achievements, and become a memento they’d value and hold onto.
My Approach
I developed a cohesive design system across multiple “passport” versions for each of the sports and activities offered at camp — hiking, water-sports, archery, team games and more. Each version features:
Playful illustrations that tap into the outdoor-adventure mood of Avid4Adventure.
Custom iconography and spot-illustrations that reflect each activity and help guide kids through the sections.
A layout designed for positive reinforcement: badges, milestone graphics, and blank space for signatures or stamps that add a “collection” feel.
A flexible print specification to scale easily across different programmes while maintaining consistency with the camp’s brand identity.
Outcome
The response was overwhelmingly positive — campers loved the new design, parents commented on how engaging the booklets were, and the camp staff found the material elevated the sense of achievement and community. Each year these booklets print in the thousands and appear in campers’ hands and backpacks across multiple sites. The project not only helped enhance the camper experience, but also strengthened the brand presence of Avid4Adventure in the field.
Why It Matters
For an illustration-focused client or brand seeking more than “just art”, this project demonstrates how I can deliver:
Illustration that goes beyond decoration — integrated into function and user experience.
Print-ready artwork and layout that meets production constraints and scales to thousands of copies.
A young-audience-friendly tone that still aligns with a brand’s professional identity.
Real-world impact: elevated engagement, positive feedback from multiple stakeholders, and tangible reach.
