Animating The Blue Gorilla Logo
3D Modeling
Animation / Rigging
3D Character
In this project, I transformed a bold illustrative logo concept into a fully animated 3D character sequence, using advanced character tools and real-time engine technology. Working with Character Creator 4, I sculpted and rigged the “Blue Gorilla” character, before importing into Unreal Engine 5 for animation, lighting and final delivery.
This work demonstrates my capability to handle character modelling, rigging, animation, and real-time engine deployment—all critical for modern interactive, broadcast or game-adjacent projects.
Character Creation & Rigging
Using Character Creator 4, I started with base morphs and anatomical refinement to design a stylised gorilla figure that retains visual impact, strong silhouette and brand identity.
I refined facial expressions, body posture and musculature to ensure the gorilla character could perform dynamic motions and read well both in close-up and at scale.
Rigging and skin-weighting were optimized for full-body animation—so the character could move fluidly, respond to camera motion, and integrate into both cinematic and interactive scenes.
Animation & Real-Time Engine Integration
Once the character was fully modelled and rigged, I imported it into Unreal Engine 5 (UE5) where I set up a real-time scene: lighting, cameras, environment, and animation sequences.
I animated the character for both performance and brand-impact: the gorilla delivers strong poses, motion arcs, secondary action (fur/cloth/surface reactions) and stylised motion cues that align with the brand’s personality.
Leveraging UE5’s real-time capabilities (Nanite, Lumen lighting, real-time rendering) allowed me to iterate rapidly, view animation in context, refine lighting and camera moves, and deliver almost cinematic quality—on deadline and with flexibility.
The workflow ties together character creation, animation and real-time rendering—making the piece ideal not only for motion-graphics reels, but also for interactive, AR/VR or game-adjacent shows.
Deliverables & Format Versatility
I delivered final renders and animation in multiple formats: high-resolution sequences for broadcast or video, looped animations for web/social, and configurable real-time scenes in UE5 for interactive demos or presentations.
Because the character was built in Character Creator 4 and exported into UE5, the asset remains reusable—meaning you or future clients can repurpose the gorilla character for new campaigns, interactive experiences or game-related formats.
